Representative of the Republican Party of the United States, Marjorie Taylor Greene, proposed her amendments to the bill on financing Ukraine before the document is considered by the House of Representatives later this week. Among other demands on the Ukrainian government, she called for "non-interference in the affairs of Christian churches". This was reported by Newsweek.com on April 18, 2024.
Greene stated, "No funds provided by this law may be used or expended until the Secretary of State submits to Congress a report confirming that Christian churches in Ukraine can operate without government interference," .
As the UOJ reported, American human rights activist of the UOC Robert Amsterdam stated that the authorities of Ukraine allocated $3.5 million to US lobbyists for the destruction of the UOC.
