Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople shares the festive joy of Muslims on the occasion of the end of their fast of Ramadan, says the message to "brothers and sisters in the global Muslim community" on the Phanar's official Facebook page.

The head of the Phanar expressed "warm blessings and heartfelt wishes to our brothers and sisters in the Islamic religion around the world".

According to Patriarch Bartholomew, the concept of food as a source of spirituality brings Christians closer to Muslims.

“How wonderful that the vital element of food unites everyone in the blessed act of having a meal at a common table,” he said. “Food becomes a source of spirituality and a cause for celebration. This brings us closer to our Muslim brothers and sisters in every country and on every continent. It connects us as religious leaders as well as devout believers, men and women, young and old."

Food, according to the Phanar head, unites people even regardless of their religious beliefs, "because there is no difference between people before God".

The message notes that besides food and fasting, there are other areas in which the Phanar and Muslims "can and must find common parameters".

“May the same God bring peace to all nations and prosperity to the entire world,” Patriarch Bartholomew wished at the end of the message.

Сommentors drew attention to this wording because Christians worship the Trinity, and Allah of Muslims is not the Trinity.

“Holy One, is it not heresy to teach that Islam and Christianity serve the same God?” asked George Papafotiou.

As reported, the head of the Phanar took part in a Muslim iftar dinner with Erdogan.
