On May 30, around midnight, a group of people in military uniforms raided the Church of the Holy Mandylion (UOC) in the town of Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi, Cherkasy region, as reported on the Telegram channel dozor_kozak1.
It is noted that they broke the locks to enter the church.
"The raiders deliberately waited for the curfew to start their special operation. They remained locked inside the church grounds all night. The criminal group presented themselves as the local territorial defence. However, none of the raiders had identification marks," the message reads.
According to the channel's sources, the seizure of the church was directly led by the head of the local SBU department responsible for religious affairs, Serhiy Slabko.
The police were present at the scene but did not act.
As earlier reported, in the village of Berezdiv, supporters of the OCU, with police assistance, seized a UOC church.
