Tomorrow, June 5, 2024, the request for the recusal of the investigating judge in the case against UOJ journalists and Archpriest Serhiy Chertylin will be considered in the Solomiansky District Court of Kyiv. This was announced by the lawyer, Archpriest Nikita Chekman, in his Telegram channel.
On May 4, a hearing was scheduled to consider the prosecution's request to extend the investigation period for six months in the cases against Orthodox journalists and a priest of the UOC.
As previously stated by Archpriest Nikita, the defense side requested the recusal of the investigating judge due to the latter's bias given that on May 29, a complaint from the defense was submitted for consideration, ignored by the judge.
Father Nikita Chekman reported that the court hearing to consider the request for the recusal of the investigating judge will take place tomorrow at 12:00.
"After this court session, it will be determined who will further consider the case of extending the pre-trial investigation period in the criminal proceedings against Father Serhiy Chertylin and other individuals suspected of treason," he noted.
As reported by the UOJ, according to the lawyer, the court takes the side of the prosecution in the case of Orthodox journalists.
