The head of the European Solidarity party, former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, published a congratulatory message on the 1036th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus, in which he declared that this week he would "enter combat" with the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, calling it an "unclean force that is against faith". Poroshenko wrote this on his Facebook page.
According to the former president, "today, more than ever, the issue of adopting a law to ban the Russian pseudo-church FSB structure, which disguises itself under the UOC MP sign, is acute."
He lamented that, according to him, there are a significant number of lobbyists in government bodies who have been blocking the adoption of draft law No. 8371 on the actual ban of the UOC in the second reading for several months.
"This week we will enter combat with this unclean force that is against faith, and therefore against the army, and against the language, and against Ukraine," Poroshenko stated.
As the UOJ reported, political expert and historian Kostiantyn Bondarenko predicts that anti-church bill 8371 will not be adopted. He notes that the law is being lobbied for by Petro Poroshenko's European Solidarity party, which means the ban on the Church will not add to Zelensky's rating. In addition, the President's team received clear signals from the USA and Europe.
