Poturaev: There’re enemies of Ukraine in US lying about persecution of UOC

The head of the Committee on Humanitarian Policy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, MP from the "Servant of the People" party, Mykyta Poturaev, stated that he personally communicated with representatives of the U.S. Senate, and they did not send him any signals suggesting not to vote for bill 8371. He mentioned this during a broadcast on Radio Liberty.

However, the MP is convinced that there are enemies of Ukraine in the U.S. who lie about what is happening in Ukraine, and it is not worth yielding to them, as they will always want more concessions.

"There are enemies of Ukraine there, and this needs to be understood. And there is no need to explain anything to the enemies of Ukraine because they are enemies. They want our defeat; they want our destruction. That is what they want. What arguments they use does not matter," said Poturaev.

In response to a journalist's comment that such unwillingness to communicate with representatives of U.S. authorities could affect aid to Ukraine, the MP replied that "if the enemies of Ukraine win, it will affect aid to Ukraine."

Commenting on Senator J.D. Vance's speech about the persecution of the UOC, who has been named by U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump as his vice-presidential running mate if he wins, Poturaev said that he did not want to interfere in the American electoral process but hoped that Vance "is simply using unverified information."

As reported by the UOJ, Mykyta Poturaev stated that the position of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on bill 8371 remains unchanged – it needs to be adopted as soon as possible.
