At each Liturgy, we pray for peace and mutual understanding in Ukraine, for the canonical Church and His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry. The representative of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia (OCCLS), Archbishop Mikhail of Prague, said this at a briefing at the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra on July 28, 2021.
The hierarch of the OCCLS noted that most of the flock in the Czech Republic are citizens of Ukraine, and “we try to give them spiritual guidance, very often we open new parishes so that the Ukrainian people, being in a foreign land, find a piece of their homeland. What is the Motherland to people without a temple of their own?”
“In our diocese, at each Divine Liturgy, we pray for peace, tranquility, mutual understanding in Ukraine, so that everything would be as the Christian people should live; we pray for the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church, for the canonical Primate of His Beatitude Onuphry, Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine,” emphasized Archbishop Mikhail of Prague.
In conclusion, the bishop conveyed congratulations from the Primate of the OCCLS, His Beatitude Rostislav, on the occasion of the Feast of Saint Prince Vladimir and the 1033th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus and also wished the Primate of the UOC spiritual and bodily strength for many good years.
As the UOJ reported, on July 27, 2021, the Primate of the UOC met with delegations of Local Orthodox Churches, who had arrived to celebrate the 1033th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus.
