A raid is currently underway at St. Michael's Cathedral of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) in Cherkasy, according to the diocesan Telegram channel Cherkasy Blagovestnik.

"Right now, people in camouflage are gathering near our cathedral to seize it," the statement says.

The parish of the cathedral is asking all Orthodox Christians for help: "Come, travel here to protect our holy site."

UOC parishioners are gathering to offer prayers and to defend their sanctuary, reading the Akathist to Archangel Michael.

As previously reported by the UOJ, the mayor of Cherkasy announced the "transfer" of the UOC cathedral to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU).
