Believers of the Rivne Eparchy (UOC) gathered 20 tons of humanitarian aid for the needs of the Holy Dormition Sviatohirsk Lavra. The shipment was delivered to the monastery on the evening of October 17, reports the website of the Sviatohirsk Lavra.
The mercy campaign involved believers from the Zdolbuniv and 1st Korets Deaneries. According to the initiator of the collection, Archpriest Oleksandr Yehorov, the aid was gathered in a short period of time.
"Knowing and seeing the great need in this region and how the Lavra has suffered, people responded eagerly to the call to help the monks and laypeople living in the Holy Mountains. As a result, we managed to gather a shipment of 20 tons, or even more, in just a week or two. There was so much collected that we couldn't bring it all this time," said Fr Oleksandr.
The shipment included food products such as potatoes, beets, cabbage, carrots, flour, canned goods, sugar, and more, as well as personal hygiene products.
Priests of the Rivne Eparchy accompanied the aid to the Holy Mountains. Through them, the faithful also sent notes with prayer petitions for their loved ones and financial assistance to the Lavra.
"Thanks to the humanitarian shipments delivered to the Sviatohirsk Lavra, the monastery not only provides for the monks and refugees living there but also helps residents of nearby villages," the statement said.
As reported, aid from the Dnipropetrovsk Eparchy of the UOC had previously been delivered to the Sviatohirsk Lavra.
