Dmytro Kukharchuk, commander of the 2nd Assault Battalion of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, accused the residents of Cherkasy of not supporting the seizure of the Archangel Michael Cathedral of the Cherkasy Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. In a statement on his Facebook page, he expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that local residents did not assist the radicals, compelling them to carry out the entire operation on their own.
"The seizure of the church was successful because a veteran (not an active serviceman) of the 3rd Assault Brigade took command. Questions remain about the inaction of the police and the indifference of the people of Cherkasy," Kukharchuk wrote, reproaching the townspeople for their apathy.
As previously reported, the former head of the State Service for Ethnopolitics noted that formal membership in a religious community could protect against forced transfer to the OCU, provided that the law does not change.
