On November 3, 2024, Metropolitan Theodosiy of Cherkasy and Kaniv called on believers to pray to Archangel Michael for the return of the cathedral seized by the OCU, according to the press service of the Cherkasy Eparchy.

During his sermon at the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Theodosiy emphasized the importance of both communal and private (in-home) prayer, urging the faithful to ask the Lord to return this sacred site to the Orthodox believers of the UOC.

The hierarch encouraged all worshipers to add a prayer to Archangel Michael to their daily prayer rule, “so that we may return to our cathedral.”

"And then the Lord will hear us and return our sanctuary, of this I am certain," said Metropolitan Theodosiy, addressing his congregation.

The bishop also stressed that the cathedral is very dear to the faithful, valued by Orthodox Christians “not for its walls and stones, but as a holy place with deep spiritual significance for believers.”

Earlier, the Union of Orthodox Journalists reported that in Cherkasy, unknown individuals in camouflage had seized the UOC cathedral on their second attempt.
