UOC calls on the authorities not to pose Uniates as all Ukrainian people

There is no need for Greek Catholics, who are a minority in Ukraine, to pose as the entire Ukrainian people. Archpriest Nikolai Danilevich, spokesman of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, wrote about this in his tg-channel following the meeting of Vladimir Zelensky with the Apostolic Nuncio in Ukraine Visvaldas Kulbokas.
According to the information on the website of the President of Ukraine, at this meeting "Vladimir Zelensky, in particular, dwelled on the issue of the beatification of Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky, which is so much anticipated by the Ukrainian people."
“... 'which is so much anticipated by the Ukrainian Greek Catholics', it could have been said that way, which would be correct,” stressed the spokesman of the UOC. “After all, Sheptytsky is an activist of the UGCC; he is an authority for them. Greek Catholics are waiting for his beatification. Well, I don’t mind that. But not all of the Ukrainian people."
The Orthodox, who are in the majority in Ukraine, do not look forward to this beatification, nor do Protestants, Muslims, Jews and representatives of other confessions, the priest noted.
“Therefore, it is important for the Office of the President to take this into account and convey the information correctly,” the UOC spokesman urged.
Recall that the thesis that "the Ukrainian people are looking forward to" the canonization of Sheptytsky was previously voiced by Vladimir Zelensky in a conversation with Pope Francis, then it was duplicated by the head of the OP Andriy Yermak in a telephone conversation with the Secretary of State of the Vatican.
