President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, during his speech in the Verkhovna Rada, emphasized the continuation of dialogue between the state and all churches in the country, except for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), which he referred to as the "Moscow Church."
"On the condition of preserving the secular nature of state institutions, we have and can develop partnerships between the state and the Church, between the state and religious communities," the President said.
Zelensky highlighted that Ukraine has a successful example of such cooperation – the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations, which serves as a platform for dialogue between the state and all religious communities. He stressed that within this dialogue, it is possible to determine which models can strengthen spiritual independence and social work within the state.
"Of course, this does not apply to the Moscow Church. The era of those who sanctify terror is over," the President concluded.
As previously reported by the UOJ, Zelensky has promised to sign a law on same-sex partnerships.
