A rally took place outside the residence of the President of Georgia in Tbilisi, where activists expressed their support for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), reports Sputnik Georgia. Those gathered condemned the persecution of the UOC, calling it an attack on the religious values of the entire Orthodox world.

"Our event is connected with what is happening in our neighboring country. In Ukraine, the Zelensky regime has passed a law that essentially places all Orthodox Christians outside the law. Sacrilege has been committed, manifested in the expulsion of Orthodox believers from monasteries, churches, and the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, while clergy were branded as agents of the Russian Federation. We support our brothers in Christ!" said the rally organizer, Lasha-Georgy Lomidze.

The participants also expressed concern for the future of Orthodoxy in Ukraine and solidarity with believers facing hardships. "We, Georgians, are Orthodox and have never betrayed our Orthodox faith," added rally participant Lia Labadze, recalling Georgia's history of martyrdom and steadfastness in faith.

As reported by the UOJ, on September 1, protests were held in the Georgian capital against a recently adopted Ukrainian law that effectively allows for the banning of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
