International lawyer Robert Amsterdam, who represents the interests of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, announced that his legal firm intends to file a comprehensive package of documentary evidence regarding the persecution of Ukrainian Christians to the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom.

In a statement published on social platform X, Amsterdam noted the preparation of a new appeal to the commission concerning “an unlawful Ukrainian law seeking to collectively punish and ban the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.” He stressed that this law constitutes a blatant violation of international human rights law. The compiled evidence package will be presented to officials monitoring religious freedom internationally.

In an accompanying video, the lawyer stated that the new anti-church law resembles the terror tactics employed by the Bolsheviks in the USSR, as well as the persecution of Muslims in China. Amsterdam also recalled that this legislation has been condemned by leading international human rights organizations.

As reported by the UOJ, Amsterdam previously described the actions of the Ukrainian government as “religious vandalism” unprecedented since the Soviet era.
