The Romanian Orthodox Church (ROC) has called on its parishioners to refrain from participating in protests related to the decision of Romania's Constitutional Court to annul the results of the first round of presidential elections, according to the official website of the Patriarchate. The ROC believes that involvement in such actions could negatively impact the Church’s reputation and lead to undesirable consequences for both clergy and believers.
"We appeal to the parishes and monasteries of the Bucharest Archdiocese, as well as the parishes and monasteries of other dioceses, urging priests, monks, and believers not to interfere or participate in actions that contradict both the law and public peace," the Romanian Patriarchate’s press service stated.
The ROC emphasized that such protest activities could harm both the clergy and the faithful. The statement concluded by reminding that the Church’s role is to foster prayer and inner peace for the overall good of society.
As previously reported by the UOJ, Dumenko called on Georgians to "defend their European future".
