On December 18, 2024, President Volodymyr Zelensky met with students of the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU) in Lviv, according to the university's press service. Around 200 students from various faculties attended the meeting, which was organized in a question-and-answer format.

The President of Ukraine emphasized the importance of quality education, especially during wartime:
"Education provides great opportunities, advantages, and agency in the world. An independent country is built by independent people. Such individuals are nurtured in universities that offer quality education, which helps them understand where they live, what they work for, fight for, and, unfortunately, sometimes give their lives for."

Zelensky also highlighted the importance of utilizing the opportunity for in-person learning during the war − a possibility afforded to UCU students due to the level of organization in the educational process and security in the Lviv region.

The discussion touched on the topic of engaging with young Ukrainians abroad. The President stressed the need to work with them to maintain their connection to their homeland.

During the hour-long session, students asked questions about rebuilding territories, working with the global Ukrainian diaspora, and involving youth in promoting Ukraine internationally.

As previously reported, Olena Zelenska prayed at the UGCC cathedral in Rome.
