On 19 December 2024, the feast day of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, the Social Department of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra held a charity event to assist families affected by the war and other people in need, reports the Lavra’s press service. By the blessing of the Lavra’s abbot, Metropolitan Pavel, Archdeacon Filaret and the brethren visited families in the Kyiv region to offer them support.
Special attention was given to large and single-parent families, who are particularly affected by the consequences of the war. Children received toys, stationery and sweets, while adults were given food, medicine, spiritual literature and clothing.
On his way, Archdeacon Filaret met elderly people, who also received sweet gift sets. "Giving presents on this day is a true joy, as we pass on a piece of warmth and care from St. Nicholas," said Fr Filaret.
The Social Department thanks all the donors who assist those in need and wishes the prayerful intercession of St. Nicholas, the patron saint of travellers and the needy.
As reported by the UOJ, UOC priests made another trip to the frontline in the East.
