The 95-year-old Primate of the Albanian Church, His Beatitude Archbishop Anastasios of Tirana and All Albania, is in a coma, and his condition remains critical, reports Newpost.gr. Nineteen days after his hospitalization at Evangelismos Hospital in Athens, doctors have been unable to bring him out of this state. The archbishop is currently intubated and receiving treatment in the intensive care unit.
Nine days ago, Archbishop Anastasios underwent surgery to address bleeding in the lower gastrointestinal tract, but his condition has not improved. His medical team is tirelessly fighting for his life, but the situation remains extremely concerning, and every hour without positive progress highlights the gravity of his condition.
As reported by the UOJ, on January 3, Archbishop Anastasios was airlifted from Tirana after experiencing gastrointestinal bleeding while already being treated for a respiratory infection. His advanced age and medical history complicate the situation, and he remains under close medical supervision, receiving the necessary care and examinations.
