LGBTQ- and HIV-related content was removed from the WhiteHouse.gov and the key federal agency websites within 24 hours of Donald Trump’s inauguration, reports the LGBT resource Washington Blade.

Over 50 links to materials concerning the LGBT community were eliminated on the government websites. The changes affected the websites of the White House, State Department, Department of Education, Department of Justice, Department of Defense, Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Labor, and other federal agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

The White House website deleted a July 2021 report on equality issues, a March 2024 fact sheet on expanded access to HIV prevention and treatment, and information about Pride Month.

94 entries for "LGBT Rights" are no longer accessible alongside dozens of links to informational resources on "LGBTQI+ policies", removed by the Department of Labor.

The publication notes that "shortly after Trump’s first presidential inauguration in 2017, the Trump-Pence administration scrubbed the White House and federal government websites of LGBTQ and HIV related content, provoking backlash from LGBTQ advocates."

Earlier, it was reported that Trump signed an executive order canceling gender policies.
