The Serbian Orthodox Church said that the information about the upcoming visit of Patriarch Porfirije to Phanar is not true, reports the Belgrade news agency tanjug.rs.

The publication reported that a number of Greek resources, as well as the Union of Orthodox Journalists, posted messages about the upcoming visit of the Primate of the SOC to the Patriarch of Constantinople, which turned out to be unreliable. The Serbian Church noted that under the current circumstances, Patriarch Porfirije does not plan to travel outside the Serbian Patriarchate.

Recall that on January 16, 2022, the official website of the Patriarchate of Constantinople posted a message about the meeting of Patriarch Bartholomew with the Speaker of the Parliament of Montenegro, Alex Becic. Among other information about the meeting, it was indicated that "the patriarch also informed his distinguished guest that, according to pan-Orthodox rules, a peaceful visit of the new Serbian Patriarch, Mr. Porfirije, to Phanar is expected with joy."

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that Patriarch Bartholomew announced a visit of the Primate of the Serbian Church to Phanar.
