On January 27, at the Ilyinsky Church in Kyiv, with the blessing of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry and at the request of the Ambassador of Serbia to Ukraine, Aca Jovanovic, a prayer service was held to St. Sava I, Archbishop of Serbia, reports the official website of the Kyiv Metropolis.
The memory of St. Sava, Archbishop of Serbia, is celebrated on January 25.
Saint Sava, the Enlightener of Serbia, was a great champion of Orthodoxy, taking monastic vows on Mount Athos. Having imbued with the teachings of the ancient hermit fathers, he gave the direction of Serbia’s spiritual life, which the country still follows.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the Serbian Ambassador to Ukraine, Aca Jovanovic, believes the Serbian and Ukrainian peoples are part of one Church.
