UOC-KP forgives Greek Synod for not recognizing "ordination" of Kallis

The Kyiv Patriarchate commented on the statement of the press services of the synod of the Church of Greece regarding the canonicity of the "consecration" of Chrysostomos Kallis by Filaret Denisenko, the website of the Mariupol and Dervenochoria Metropolis of the UOC-KP reports.

In a published statement by the UOC-KP Metropolis it is said that “it would be expedient for the Greek Church to resolve issues and problems of its own jurisdiction and its own clergy, rather than the bishops and clergy of another church jurisdiction and another country, as in the present case.”

The document emphasizes that Chrysostomos Kallis is "an elected canonical and legal metropolitan of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate and has no other relationship with any other church authority outside it."

“Finally, we directly and categorically declare that Metropolitan Chrysostomos forgives with longsuffering all those who try to harm him personally in various ways, and prays for them that God will enlighten them and forgive them for their biased attitude towards His Eminence,” the statement says.

The UOC-KP asked everyone to “respect the tribulations of the people” of Ukraine, pray for peace between church jurisdictions “and not create further problems and tensions among Ukrainian Orthodox believers in the midst of such a serious situation.”

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the GOC Synod responded to the “consecration” of an Old Calendarist from Greece by the UOC-KP.
