Ternopil mayor suggests celebrating Easter "with free nations”

Serhiy Nadal, the Ternopil mayor, urged visitors on his Telegram channel to give their opinion on the date of the Easter celebration. "What is your opinion: is it time for Ukraine to celebrate the Resurrection of Christ with the whole world? To free ourselves from Moscow's mental occupation and return to the family of free nations of the world. Celebrate Easter with the Christians of the world on April 17. Yes or no?" the mayor asks Ukrainians.

The poll was posted on March 30, 2022. Nearly 10,500 people took part in the April 6 poll, with 91% of the participants agreeing that we should celebrate Easter with the "family of free nations".

Serhiy Nadal, a “Svoboda” member and a parishioner of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, has been the mayor of Ternopil since 2010.

In December 2021, in Lviv they made a video explaining why Ukrainians should abandon the celebration of Christmas according to the Julian calendar.
