"Azov" steals icons from UOC temple in Velyka Novosilka to give them to OCU
Soldiers of the 98th Azov Battalion decided to remove dozens of icons from the St. George church of the UOC in Velyka Novosilka. According to the Telegtam channel of the TRD "Azov", the temple in the Donetsk region was constantly subjected to artillery shelling, hence in order to save the icons, the military took them to the "Church of the Ukrainian Patriarchate" in Dnipro.
The video posted on the channel of the fighters shows the military placing the icons in the interiors and trunks of two cars and leaving the courtyard of St. George's church.
In Dnipro, the property of the UOC went to OCU cleric Uar Peretiatko, who was evacuated from Mariupol. “We received these icons, which had been brought to us from the temple that was damaged by shelling, fired by the ‘Rascists’,” Peretiatko said.
As the UOJ reported, believers in the city of Rozhyshche managed to save the UOC temple from seizure.
