Antioch Patriarch condemns the West for discrimination against Middle East

On August 31, 2022, speaking at the assembly of the World Council of Churches, the Primate of the Antiochian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East, called on Western countries to stop discrimination against the peoples of the Middle East, caused by politically motivated sanctions and blockade of the economy, reports ria.ru.

“Raise your voice against discrimination against the peoples of the Middle East, against depriving them of access to food, medicine, heating, against sanctions and an economic blockade under the guise of political controversies,” Patriarch John called.

According to the Primate of the Church of Antioch, amid the economic blockade and sanctions, Christians in the Middle East are suffering from proselytism – attempts to convert them to another faith, taking advantage of their plight.

As the UOJ wrote, the hierarch of the Antiochian Church called division the main cause of the crisis in Orthodoxy.
