Ukraine introduces sanctions against Patriarch Kirill & Metropolitan Tikhon

Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kirill and Metropolitan Tikhon of Pskov and Porkhov have been added to the sanctions list of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine. The corresponding decree signed by the head of State was published on the website of the Ukrainian President.

In addition to representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church, the list includes representatives of show business, collaborators, politicians, representatives of security agencies and oligarchs from the Forbes list and a number of individuals from their entourage.

The press service of the Ministry of Economy described the list as a powerful weapon against Ukraine's enemies.

"The aggressor and those who help him will be punished," Minister Yuliya Sviridenko commented on the introduction of new sanctions.

As reported, Hungary blocked the head of the Russian Orthodox Church from being put on the EU sanctions list.
