Metropolitan Dionysios of Corinth, born Dionysios Mantalos in Athens in 1952, passed away at 73 in the ICU of IASO Hospital after a prolonged illness.

His condition deteriorated following medical treatment in the United States earlier this year.

Ordained a deacon in 1974 and a presbyter in 1979, he served as chancellor of the Holy Metropolis of Chalkida and Chief Secretary of the Holy Synod.

A theology graduate from the University of Athens, he pursued postgraduate studies in Christian Philosophy and Education.

Metropolitan Dionysios was instrumental in establishing 25 spiritual centers and summer camps in Ilia and Evia, and led youth ministry and anti-heresy training programs.

He was a prolific writer and speaker, contributing to theological and social discussions.

Ordained Metropolitan of Corinth in 2006, he leaves a legacy of devoted service.
