Cross Procession-2016: over 500 pilgrims are heading for Kiev with prayers

Participants of All-Ukrainian Cross Procession of peace, love, and prayer for Ukraine have covered almost 120km, Участники Всеукраинского крестного хода мира, любви и молитвы за Украину прошли уже почти 120 km, having joined another sanctity to the Procession. It is reported by UNIAN.

Curator of the Cross Procession archimandrite Josaphat (Kovetsky) told that on 6 July over 500 people were walking in the Cross procession along the territory of Balakleya city, Kharkiv region. 

“On the border with Kharkiv region we were met by archbishop of Izum and Kupiana Elisseus (Ivanov) with Peschanskaya icon of the Holy Virgin Mary. In the Cathedral of the Ascension in Izum there was held a Divine Liturgy. All who had gathered in the church had a possibility to kiss the miraculous icons. “Now we are accompanied by the icon’s copy (Peschanskaya). On our way the Procession stops in churches to have prayer services, and if we pass the memorials to soldiers who fell in battles for our Motherland, we sing ‘Eternal Memory’. The police and medical staff also go with us. We are planning to stay in town Andreyevka the following night for our night accommodation”, told father Josaphat.    

On 12 July participants of the Cross Procession are supposed to cross the border with Poltava region, pass Poltava, Lubny, Piriatin, on 22 July they are expected to reach Kiev region, and on 27 July – to arrive in Kiev where they will meet with their counterparts from the Holy Dormition Pochaev Lavra.  

It will be reminded on the 3rd of July began All-Ukrainian Cross Procession which will cover dioceses of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church with prayer for Ukraine. The Procession starts from two points – from the East (the Holy Dormition Svyatogorsk Lavra) and the West (the Holy Dormition Pochaev Lavra) on July 9. Two streams of our faithful will move towards each other to meet in Kiev on Vladimir Hill on the feast day of St. Prince Vladimir, Equal-to-the-Apostles, and Christening of Rus and then to head for the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra .
