White House Has No Intention of Deporting Ukrainian Refugees
Media and Non-government Organizations are trying to weaponize Trump Administration's Executive Orders, sewing fear and despair in Ukrainian Community.
On January 20,2025 the Trump administration filed an Executive Order aimed at tackling illegal immigration and scandalous parole programs created by the Biden administration. Unfortunately, the media and political activists have pounced on the order, claiming it will lead to the deportation of Ukrainian refugees.
They have done this in hoping to stoke opposition to Trump's border policies by appealing to the genuine, widespread affection towards the Ukrainian people.
What is the claim?
The Ukraine Immigration Taskforce released a statement on Jan. 28th claiming that the Executive Order “promisi[es] to terminate all categorical parole programs that are contrary to the policies of the United States and ensure that all future parole determinations fully comply with the administration’s policies.” It continues, “the Uniting for Ukraine program has been paused indefinitely.”
This is simply not true. Unfortunately, many Ukrainians are not aware of how common it is for political organizations to pose as charities for the sake of pushing a political agenda. And in this case, it is causing them great anxiety.
What does the Order do?
The executive orders in question target illegal immigration through the southern border, and those who illegally entered the country therefrom. It does not seek to prevent all immigration, but to halt the flow of illegal immigrants so that resources can be redirected towards streamlining legal immigration.
Because the Biden Administration had authorized a web of parole programs and initiatives allowing anyone entering through the southern border to claim "asylum," all parole programs have been paused until they can be reviewed by the Trump Administration.
What does that mean?
Those who are already enrolled in the program - those in the United States already - are not under risk of deportation.
New applications - and only new applications - have been paused. Once the administration has completed its review process, new applications will likely be accepted. If the program is not renewed, Ukrainian refugees wishing to come to America would go through the general process for admittance into the United States.
Based on information from our sources, the White House has no intention of abolishing the program or deporting Ukrainians. This has been confirmed by the White House Public Affairs office.
