Vance: There’s a Reason Christianity Ended Practice of Child Sacrifice
While speaking at a Turning Point USA event in Mississippi, the vice president compared child sacrifice to abortion.
OXFORD — While speaking at a Turning Point USA event on Oct. 30, 2025, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance said that Christianity ending the widespread practice of child sacrifice is "one of the great accomplishments of Christian civilization."
"There's a reason why Christian civilization ended the practice of child sacrifice all over the world, and it's one of the great accomplishments of Christian civilization," he said. "I believe that we should try to be protecting every unborn life. There's a question of how exactly we do it, but I would never say that anyone's right to life should be sacrificed."
The vice president also said that there is a direct correlation between how women and children are treated in a country, as societies that discard innocent babies don't treat women well, and societies that mistreat women will soon mistreat babies.
"If you go to historical archaeological sites where there were brothels... and you dig up the bones of the women who were working in these places, you will very often find a lot of children who were buried with them," Vance said.
Critics have accused Vance of promoting stereotypes regarding indigenous people, while supporters applauded him for recognizing the connection between child sacrifice in ancient civilizations and the modern practice of abortion.
Previously, UOJ reported that the Trump administration is taking steps to overturn a Biden-era regulation that permitted taxpayer funds to cover travel expenses for unaccompanied illegal alien minors seeking abortions.
