Leaders discuss global peace, youth, and Christian cooperation at interfaith event.

ROME — His Beatitude Abp. John of Tirana, Durrës, and All Albania held a private meeting with Pope Leo XIV following their participation in the international conference “Osare la Pace” (“Daring for Peace”), organized by the Community of Sant’Egidio in Rome.

According to the Orthodox Times, in their fraternal discussion, the two leaders focused on shared concerns, highlighting the urgent need to end ongoing wars and restore peace worldwide. They also underscored the importance of caring for youth, whom they described as both the present and future of humanity.

The Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining open and friendly relations with all, emphasizing its active role in global Christian efforts for peace and reconciliation.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of commemorative gifts, symbolizing mutual respect and goodwill.

Previously, UOJ reported that the Orthodox Church of Albania, as part of the country's Interfaith Council, spoke out against the upcoming law "On Equality of Men and Women."
