Dumenko: UOC communities should either be renamed or join OCU

The head of the OCU, Epifaniy Dumenko, said in an interview with “The Left Bank” edition that the law on the renaming of the UOC will push the UOC communities to join its structure.

"Everything follows from the previous question about the implementation of the law on renaming. If you want to remain part of the Russian Orthodox Church, you must change your name. If a community makes that decision, they implement it. But I think most communities will not want the name of the Russian Orthodox Church, especially during the war, and therefore will decide to join the united Orthodox Church of Ukraine," Dumenko said.

As reported, religious scholar Mykola Mitrokhin believes that the OCU is afraid of unification with the UOC. The OCU benefits from UOC remaining in suspended status.
