Pope Francis expressed concern about the intentions of the Ukrainian authorities to evict the monks of the UOC from the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. The pontiff said this during a collective audience, reports Il Mattino.

The head of the RCC noted that "opposing parties" must respect religious objects.

“I ask the warring parties to respect religious places. People of any denomination who devote themselves to prayer are a pillar for the people of God,” he said.

As reported by the UOJ, the UOC is being expelled from the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
