On September 12, 2023, the commission of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra National Reserve sealed Buildings N63 and N64 in the monastery, which until now had been the educational and administrative premises of the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary. The press service of the reserve reports this.
The message claims that the reserve “legally continues to work towards the actual return of the state-owned premises.”
“The position of the reserve remains unchanged: all objects of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra must be returned to the state, and this will be done,” the press service states.
As the UOJ reported, earlier the administration of the reserve, and then the Ministry of Culture, prohibited access to the territory of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra for students, teachers and other KDAiS employees. Officials equated them with visitors to the Lavra, who have not been allowed into the monastery since August 11, 2023. Theological schools moved to the Intercession Holosiiv Monastery.
