Rada again wants to push through anti-church bills, – media
According to the resource, the draft agenda of the next plenary week of the Verkhovna Rada for May 18 includes two "church" bills – № 4511 (initiated by deputies from the People's Front Dmitry Tymchuk, Sergei Vysotsky, BPP member Alexander Briginets and a dozen other authors, mostly members of the coalition) and № 4128 (the authors are People's Front deputy Viktor Yelensky, as well as a number of deputies from the BPP and "Samopomich").
Bill № 4128 proposes that membership in a religious community be determined on the basis of "self-identification". Bill № 4511 introduces a special status for сhurches whose governing bodies are located in a country recognized by the Rada as an aggressor State.
As reported by the UOJ, experts have repeatedly stressed that bills № 4128 and № 4511 contradict the Constitution of Ukraine, and their aim is to create obstacles to the largest religious organization of Ukraine – the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, whose civil position is not approved by the current government.
