Pilgrims from the Cathedral of the Exaltation of the Cross in Geneva, Switzerland, visit Cyprus and the Holy Land with Bsp. Irenei’s blessing.

JERUSALEM — With the blessing of Bsp. Irenei of London and Western Europe, clergy and faithful from Geneva’s Cathedral of the Exaltation of the Cross went on pilgrimage to Cyprus and the Holy Land.

According to a release from the Russian Church Abroad's (ROCOR) Diocese of Great Britain and Western Britain, on Sunday, at the invitation of Pat. Theophilus III of Jerusalem, Archpriest Emilian Pocinoc of Geneva participated in the Divine Liturgy at which Archimandrite Symeon was consecrated as the new Archbishop of Mount Sinai.

The pilgrims joined hundreds of worshippers in prayer for the new hierarch during a Patriarchal Liturgy lasting more than four hours, celebrated by around 30 bishops and nearly as many priests.

After the service, Fr. Emilian conveyed Bsp. Irenei’s greetings to Abp. Symeon and assured him of the prayers and support of the clergy and faithful of the Diocese and the wider ROCOR faithful for his new mission.

Previously, UOJ reported that Archimandrite Symeon was officially consecrated Archbishop of Sinai, Pharan and Raitho at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem.
