Sacred Relics Unveiled at St. Nicholas Chapel in Flushing, NY
Among the treasures unveiled were fragments of the True Cross, relics of Sts. Nicholas the Wonderworker, Demetrios, George, and Katherine.
Flushing, NY — The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America consecrated the Chapel of St. Nicholas at the Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Flushing on November 16, 2025.
The event drew hundreds of faithful, marking a milestone in Orthodox worship on Long Island, according to a report from the Orthodox Observer.
Leading the rites was His Eminence Abp. Elpidophoros of America, who presided over the Divine Liturgy and the placement of sacred relics into the chapel's Holy Altar.
Among the treasures unveiled were fragments of the True Cross, relics of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker—patron saint of the chapel—and venerated items from Sts. Demetrios, George, and Katherine.
"This consecration breathes life into our sacred space, inviting all to encounter the eternal through these holy witnesses," Abp. Elpidophoros proclaimed during the homily.
Recently, the UOJ reported that His Eminence joined Catholicos Aram I to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the latter's enthronement.
