YouTube Deletes Channel of Greek UOJ

Greek branch of Union of Orthodox Journalists condemns move as censorship and an attempt to silence a voice defending Orthodoxy.

ATHENS — The Greek Union of Orthodox Journalists (UOJ) has condemned the deletion of its YouTube channel, calling the action “a blatant violation of freedom of speech and a clear attempt to silence a voice that defends Orthodoxy and truth.”

This is not the first time the UOJ has been targeted by censorship. Founded in Ukraine in 2015, the organization has faced significant pressure from authorities. The Ukrainian government blocked the UOJ website under unsubstantiated accusations of “propaganda” and exerted heavy pressure on its staff.

The UOJ was subjected to persecution and restrictions precisely because it defended the canonical Orthodox Church and presented the truth in the face of one-sided propaganda.

“Now a similar scenario is being attempted in Greece,” the Greek branch said in a statement.

The organization stressed that no amount of pressure, persecution, or exceptions—whether in Ukraine or Greece—would silence it:

“You will not silence the truth. Orthodoxy does not keep silent. And the UOJ will continue to be a source of strength, unity, and inspiration for the Orthodox community around the world.”

Previously, UOJ-America reported that the SBU had shut down Ukrainian access to UOJ outlets in the United States and Bulgaria.
