The Winter Sacred Music Institute in Phoenix will gather church musicians for education, worship, and fellowship focused on Lazarus Saturday and Palm Sunday hymns.

PHOENIX — The Department of Sacred Music will convene its 2026 Winter Sacred Music Institute in Phoenix, Arizona, from February 5–8, offering church musicians a warm retreat during the coldest stretch of winter. Hosted by St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, the gathering will combine education, worship, and fellowship amid the desert landscape.

This year’s theme, “Lazarus Saturday and Palm Sunday: Hosanna in the Highest,” focuses on the hymns marking the transition from Great Lent to Holy Week. Participants will explore the liturgical significance of these feast days through classes led by experienced chant and choral instructors from across the Archdiocese.

The schedule, to be released soon, will feature sessions, communal singing, and reflections from keynote speaker His Grace Bsp. Anthony. Following Great Vespers on Saturday, the National Archdiocesan Choir will present a public concert of chant and choral works, inviting attendees and the broader community to experience Orthodox hymnography firsthand.

Event registration and hotel reservations can be made here. The deadline is January 5, 2026.
