The Court of Appeals of Dnipro announced that the hearing in the case of Met. Arseny of Svyatogorsk has been postponed to Sept. 11.

SLOVIANSK — On September 5, 2025, the Dnipro Court of Appeals postponed the hearing in the case of Metropolitan Arseny, abbot of the Svyatogorsk Dormition Lavra, who continues to be held without sentence in the Dnipro pre-trial detention center. This was reported by the Lavra’s press service.

The Lavra clarified that the session originally scheduled for September 5 was moved to Thursday, September 11, the feast of the Beheading of Saint John the Baptist. The hearing is set to begin at 1:00 p.m. In addition, a preparatory session of the Sloviansk District Court in Donetsk Region is scheduled for September 10 at 1:00 p.m.

For the record, Metropolitan Arseny has been held in the Dnipro pre-trial detention facility since April 25, 2024.

The brotherhood of the Lavra has called on the faithful to pray for the imprisoned Metropolitan.

Earlier, the international organization Club of People’s Unity—which includes Ukrainian politicians who left the country under government pressure—published a list of 368 people recognized as political prisoners. Among them were also representatives of the clergy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

Previously, UOJ reported that the Dnipro Court of Appeals would consider appeals against the decision to extend the detention of the abbot of the Svyatogorsk Monastery.
